Nature Nestly exists to make a complicated subject genuinely understandable. This page explains how we research, write, review, and correct our content, so you can judge for yourself whether to trust what you read here.

Who writes for us
Our articles are produced by Elena Hartwell and the Nature Nestly editorial team, working from field experience, reputable references, and a lot of careful reading. We write for everyday readers learning about wildlife and nature, which means our first job is clarity. If a beginner cannot follow an explanation, we have not finished it.
How we research
Every article starts with credible sources. We prioritize peer-reviewed studies, established conservation organizations, government wildlife agencies, university extension materials, and recognized field guides. When experts disagree, we say so rather than pretending the question is settled. We avoid sensational claims and we do not repeat “facts” we cannot trace to a reliable origin.

How we write
We aim for accuracy first and readability a very close second. That means plain language, real examples, and honest uncertainty where it exists. We are deliberately calm. You will not find doom-mongering or clickbait here, because fear is a poor teacher and a worse motivator.
Accuracy and corrections
We make mistakes like anyone else, and we fix them in the open. If you spot an error, tell us through the contact page with a source where possible. When we correct something significant, we update the article and, where it matters, note that it was revised. Keeping our content trustworthy is more important to us than appearing flawless.
Updates
Nature is not static, and neither is the science that describes it. We revisit older articles periodically to check that ranges, recommendations, and statistics still hold up, and we revise them when they do not.
Independence and advertising
Editorial decisions are made independently of advertising. We display ads, including through Google AdSense, and we sometimes use affiliate links, but advertisers and partners never decide what we cover or what we conclude. Our recommendations reflect our honest assessment, not a sponsor’s wishes. See our affiliate disclosure for more on how those links work.
Clear over clever. Honest over dramatic. Useful over impressive. If we ever fall short of that, we want to hear about it. You can reach us by email at [email protected] or through our contact page.
